Wednesday’s Wonder: Iconic Rialto Bridge

This Wednesday’s Wonder: The Rialto Bridge in Venice, Italy.

Rialto Bridge can be summed up into one word: iconic.

Well, you could probably also call it busy. It’s a busy bridge for good reason. The Rialto Bridge has been featured in all kinds of paintings and historical moments. We took our iconic walk on the bridge. Of course, we walked it at night and early in the morning because any other time and that bridge is packed.

A bridge doing the exact opposite of its original use: not letting people pass. A bridge doing the exact opposite of its original use: not letting people pass.

Name your favorite iconic place on your travels!

    • Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for commenting. It’s true. Venice is very pretty. It’s hard to believe that the paintings we see in museums were paintings of Venice. And there we were just walking around. Really kind of surreal.

  • I loved Venice. I had to cross this bridge each day while I stayed in the city to study art history in 2010. It’s one of my favourite cities in Italy along with Florence.

    Happy new year to you!

    • Hi Murissa,

Happy new year! That bridge was so hard to cross in the daytime! There were soooo many people there. How was Florence?
